Welcome to the Birmingham Literature Festival, which celebrates great writers, performers, thinkers and speakers.

We’re two decades years old!

Birmingham Literature Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with the launch of a Spring Edition, in addition to its traditional October programme.
Running from Friday 21-Sunday 23rd April 2017, the Spring Edition, incorporates canoes, bicycles and walks, a variety of venues across the city, and a host of writers from Birmingham and further afield, including Romania, Poland and the US.
It features events for families and children as well as a variety of exciting speakers.

The festival also returns on October 7-14 with exciting authors, spellbinding storytellers, passionate poets and inspiring individuals. You’ll find writing workshops, book clubs and unmissable performances across the city.

The Spring Edition Festival Pass is just £50 covering all of the weekend’s adult events- 10 in total, worth £87.*

*The Pass does not include any workshops or family events. **

  • Please note that some workshop timings may clash with the main events, so if you wish to buy a pass and attend workshops, please check the final programme to ensure you can make it to your events.
