Young REP Summer Schools 2012

Young REP Summer Schools 2012

We have two great summer opportunities this summer for young people aged 11-18.

Young REP Summer School for 11-13 year olds
Tuesday 31 July – Thursday 2 August, 10am – 3pm at Birmingham Ormiston Academy.
Cost: £30 for the three days

This summer school will allow you to develop your drama and creative skills and make new friends in this fun three day performance project led by a Young REP Director. This project is for young people who are interested in drama and performance although no previous experience is necessary.

Young REPic Summer School for 14-18 year olds
Tuesday 31 July – Friday 3 August 10am – 3pm at Birmingham Ormiston Academy.
Cost: £45 for the four days

Working with a Young REP Director, participants will use physical theatre, choral speaking techniques and visual storytelling to recreate the epic old English poem Beowulf. The group will then perform this to audiences at Artsfest, Birmingham’s arts festival as part of the Poetry City event on Saturday 8 September.

Places for both summer schools are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to book or to find out more about the project, please contact Tom Saunders, Participation Officer on 0121 245 2052 or tom.saunders@birmingham-rep.co.uk.

You can find out more about previous summer schools at The REP, including blogs from previous participants in the Get Involved section of our website.

And if you’d like to see some of our young performers in action, our Young REP production of Kidnapping Cameron is on at The Old Rep Theatre until Saturday.
