X-Factor Star Decides There's No Place Like Home
We’re delighted to announce that West Midlands X-Factor star Treyc Cohen will play Dorothy in our forthcoming production of The Wiz.
Treyc Cohen impressed the nation in the most recent series of X-Factor, with Simon Cowell describing her performance as “the best vocal for the entire competition thus far”. After her performance in the finals, Treyc said “Now I’m out of the competition I get to choose what sort of artist I want to be” and confided that her biggest ambitions were to appear onstage and to “go down the soul route” so we’re delighted to cast her in our super soul musical: The Wiz!
While The Wiz will mark Treyc’s professional debut in musical theatre, she’ll be ably assisted by a talented cast of musical theatre actors including Allyson Ava-Brown as Glinda, Melanie La Barrie as Aunt Em, Horace Oliver as The Tinman, Wayne Robinson as The Scarecrow, Clive Rowe as The Lion and Peter Straker as The Wizard – all supported by a company of actors, singers and dancers from the local community. Proving that Dorothy was right when she said there’s no place like home…
Tickets for The Wiz are available directly from the New Alexandra Theatre via their website by calling 0844 871 3011. (A booking fee will apply.)
