Weoley Castle Performers Needed To Bring Castle Ruins To Life

Have you ever dreamt of treading the boards? Are you a talented performer who would love to share your gift? Birmingham Repertory Theatre can make it happen!

The REP are looking for residents from Weoley Castle and the surrounding area who would like to get involved in a new large-scale community production, The Witches’ Promise by Stephanie Dale.

Working in partnership with Weoley Castle and Weoley Castle Library as part of The REP’s Neighbourhood REP projects, the play will be performed in the medieval ruins of the castle in July 2012. The Witches’ Promise is inspired by the history of this 13th century landmark and The REP are looking for budding performers to take part in the show.

Performers of all ages and abilities from the Weoley Castle area are welcome and encouraged to take part in this very special show. Applicants must have a passion for acting or performing and if they can play a musical instrument that’s all the better. There will be other opportunities for anyone who’s a little shy to perform, as backstage crew will also be required, so whatever your talent is The REP would be interested in hearing from you.

In return for their time and effort the volunteer cast will get professional training from The REP’s highly talented creative team and the chance to take part in one of the city’s most exciting and innovative outdoor events of the summer which is taking place at the heart of their community.

Open recruitment days are taking place at the Jervoise Primary School, Jervoise Road, Weoley Castle on Friday 30 March, 7pm-8pm and Saturday 31 March 11am-12pm, 1pm-2pm or 3pm-4pm.

Hopefuls will be asked to register their interest in taking part in the project and then invited to audition mid-April. People who are unable to attend any of the taster sessions can register their interest by emailing neighbourhoodrep@birmingham-rep.co.uk.
