Verity Bargate Award
Birmingham Repertory Theatre is delighted to be supporting the return of the Verity Bargate Award – Soho Theatre’s national competition for the best new play by an emerging writer. The judges are looking for a new play that will stand out from the crowd – it might be your first script, it might be set in a kitchen or on the moon. The only limit is your imagination!
This session will enliven your process by offering fresh eclectic exercises and lively discussion guaranteed to help you explore the ideas and style of your work in new ways. We will explore such areas as: Triggers, Ways In and Jumping off Points; the building blocks of Character, Story and Style; demystifying Structure; and the practicalities of Rewriting, Deadlines and where, when and how to send out your work.
The session is appropriate for playwrights of all levels of experience and ideas at any level of development; led by Sarah Dickenson, Soho Theatre’s Senior Reader, participants will also be given an introduction to Soho Theatre and their work with writers plus top tips, advice and information on the 2011 competition.
Places are available for FREE so please book early to avoid disappointment by emailing email@example.com
