Queen celebrates young people and performing arts

The REP’s Associate Director Steve Ball was invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace on Monday 9 May to celebrate young people in the performing arts. The event was hosted by HM The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Steve was one of 350 guests at the event and he joined star guests including Helen Mirren, Kevin Spacey, Sheila Hancock, Michael Eavis, Duffy, Joe McElderry and Ellie Goulding.

As The REP’s Associate Director, Steve has been responsible for leading The REP’s extensive Learning & Participation programme at The REP for eight years. Under Steve’s direction the theatre works with hundreds of young people across the region and beyond. Through the work he does at The REP Steve has a real commitment to; quality, social inclusion, lifelong learning, the celebration and promotion of cultural diversity, working in partnership and involving the whole organisation in education and lifelong learning.

Steve said “It is wonderful to see that the contribution which the performing arts make to the lives of young people has been recognised in such a high profile way.”
