Season's Greetings From The REP!

Season's Greetings From The REP!

In the spirit of the 12 days of Christmas, we thought you might like to find out about some last minute present ideas from The REP. So here are our Top 12 Gift Ideas for The REP’s forthcoming season…

1. The Final Curtain is a one off celebratory event in The REP’s Main House on January 8 2011 – the final day that the theatre is open to the public before we close for two years and go on tour around the city.

Birmingham born writer Steven Camden aka Polarbear has composed a piece of poetry about The REP, inspired by our customers’ memories, which he’ll be performing on the day with members of our youth theatre. And Polarbear will be ably assisted by BBC WM’s Joanne Malin, our host for the show, which is being broadcast live from the theatre on BBC WM!

Tickets cost just £5 and all proceeds go towards the REPair Appeal. It’s all set to be a great day out at the theatre!

And if you have a special memory of The REP, why not let us know by adding your comment to our website? We’d love to hear from you!

2. If you haven’t already booked your tickets for The Secret Garden make sure you don’t miss out on what The Birmingham Mail calls “A treat for all the family“. Tickets cost from £12 and the show runs until Saturday 8 January, so there’s still time for a last minute Christmas gift!

3. The Snowman flies in for Christmas 2011. If you want to be super organised, you can buy your tickets for both of next year’s festive treats, Sleeping Beauty at The Crescent Theatre and The Snowman, at the ICC Theatre. Both wonderful shows for all the family!

4. And if you can’t wait a whole year The Snowman will fly to you at home this Christmas, because the stage show is now available to buy on DVD from Amazon.

5. No, sorry, not 5 Gold Rings, but we are offering you a special Gold membership! The REP has two new supporters schemes, ACT One and Two. Membership begins from as little as £25 per year and you can receive wonderful benefits whilst helping to support the work of The REP.

6. The Rememberers is The REP’s first off-site performance of 2011. This classic tale of good versus evil, told through rap narration, projection, music and illustration is performed at the fascinating A E Harris Building.

7. The REP presents First Stages Theatre to keep your little ones entertained in the New Year. Featuring storytelling, beautiful puppets, magic tricks and music, children’s tickets are just £4.50 each!

8. For those with a love of live music The REP presents another of its popluar Gigs at The Jam House this February and as always, all proceeds from tickets go towards the REPair Appeal.

9. Autumn 2011 sees The REP return to its roots at The Old Rep Theatre with a pairing of two complementary plays The Importance of Being Earnest and Travesties. If you book tickets for both shows at the same time you’ll receive a 25% discount!

10. For fans of The REP’s Door shows, in March The REP’s production of the world premiere of the touching family drama, Notes To Future Self will be performed at mac.

11. Why not Name a Seat for a friend or loved one in our Main House or The Door? You’ll be in good company amongst the likes of Julie Walters and Lenny Henry!

12. The REP presents The Wiz, a soulful version of The Wizard of Oz, at the Alexandra Theatre this June. This upbeat, rhythm and blues version of the story we all know and love is a great night out for any fan of the musicals.

And a partridge in a pear tree!

We hope you’ve seen something you like in this round up of next season and that you’ll join us at The REP before the building closes and next year, whilst we’re on tour.
