Sandwell Students Bring Drama To The Classroom

Twenty four Year 8 students at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy in Tividale have been working with a playwright and actors from The REP to create their own plays, as part of the theatre’s Transmissions in Schools scheme.

Josh Dalledonne, Playwriting Officer at The REP said of the students work:

“The students have had great fun creating their own plays and they have produced some fantastic scripts, some of which have been inspired by their lives while others have been really imaginative. It’s a great way for them to create stories and then see them brought to life by professional actors.”

The REP’s programme for young writers, Transmissions, started in 1998 offering young people the chance to work with professional playwrights and create their own plays. The REP now delivers Transmissions in Schools as part of the curriculum across the Midlands, whereby professional playwrights work in partnership with teachers to deliver the Transmissions programme to secondary school pupils.
