Open Access Directors Workshop

Open Access Directors Workshop

Open Access Directors Workshop
Saturday 20th October
10.30am – 5.30pm

Run by the JMK Trust in collaboration with Birmingham Repertory Theatre, this workshop is a free, day-long session in which participants will discuss and explore the different aspects of working as a theatre director, with useful insights about developing projects and your career. The workshop is open to emerging directors who have directed at least one production and will also offer the opportunity to find out more about the JMK Trust and REP Foundry, Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s new artists’ development programme.

The session will be run by Matthew Evans, winner of the JMK Award in 2010, whose credits include The Tiger That Isn’t (Edinburgh), The Spanish Tragedy (Corpus) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Catford Broadway for collaborative theatre company Gameshow), Bang Up (New Players Theatre) and She Stoops to Conquer (Hoxton Hall).

The JMK Trust was set up to commemorate the visionary young director James Menzies-Kitchin, whose career was cut short by his sudden death at the age of 28. The Trust supports young directors through the JMK Award and its programme of development opportunities. Previous winners of the Award include Thea Sharrock, Orla O’Loughlin, Bijan Sheibani, Mark Rosenblatt, Natalie Abrahami and Polly Findlay.
