REP's Children Celebrate Five Fabulous Years
25 children and their families celebrated their 5th birthdays in the spotlight at Birmingham Repertory Theatre this week.
The party hosted by The REP, was held to celebrate both the fifth anniversary of the theatre’s unique project, REP’s Children, and also the 5th birthdays of children from across Birmingham who are part of the scheme. The afternoon involved a range of Snowman themed activities including puppet making, storytelling, dance, and of course birthday cake.
REP’s Children was launched in October 2004 giving babies born at City and Sandwell Hospitals free theatre experiences for them and their families for the first 10 years of their lives. Around 250 families are part of REP’s Children project and over the last five years have enjoyed a range of special theatre performances aimed at very young children plus other educational activities.
Pictured above is Amaya, who was the first REP’s Child, as she was the first baby born at City Hospital on 1 October 2004. Amaya has been involved in REP’s Children activities every year since she was born and we were thrilled that she was able to celebrate her 5th birthday with us.
