Fun at the reindeer and lantern parade
This weekend saw us take part in Birmingham’s annual Christmas Reindeer and Lantern Parade.
A whole host of festive characters paraded through Birmingham City Centre, including The Snowman and a festive bunch of Christmas Carolers.
The parade began in Edgbaston Street and continued through the City Centre, past The REP and Big Wheel, and finishing in Brindley Place.
Members of our youth theatre The Young REP, who dressed in Dickensian costumes to represent The REP’s festive production of A Christmas Carol, did a fantastic job of singing carols and keeping those Christmas ‘Bah Humbugs’ at bay. As the evening got darker, the Young REP lit the way with their Dickensian style oil lanterns.
Pictured above is The Snowman and Boy (played by the Young REP’s Stephen Harvey) alongside The Lord Mayor of Birmingham – Councillor Michael Wilkes and the Lady Mayoress Vivienne Wilkes.
The Snowman proved to be as popular as ever, posing for photos along the way and waving to the huge crowds that had turned out to watch the parade.
Thank goodness the weather was good and there was no rain to melt the Snowman!
